America has given new work to help Pakistan, know if there is any conspiracy against India?
Defense News: There are no plans for new functionality in the aircraft and no new weapons will be provided. According to the statement, this will help Pakistan in its campaign against terrorism. However, the US says that this will not affect the military balance of the region.
Reaction of India on Pakistan and America Deal
According to media reports, India has lodged a strong objection to the F-16 agreement with Pakistan. According to the English newspaper The Hindu, US official Donald Lu was visiting India in the past and during this time the Indian Foreign Ministry repeatedly lodged its objection to this. The newspaper wrote in its report that officials raised this issue during every bilateral meeting with Donald Lu. Donald Lu had come to Delhi to attend a meeting of senior officers of Quad.
The Indian side expressed concern over the technical assistance being provided to Pakistan for the F-16s, The Hindu reported. While Pakistan is claiming that this aid is necessary for counter-terrorism operations, the Indian government says that Pakistan will use it in its operation against it.
According to a report published in the Economic Times, the Indian government does not believe that this agreement will not affect the relationship. According to the report, India is angry that the US did not inform it about this policy decision in advance, while this decision may have an impact on India's security.
What's included in the deal
The deal will apply to the maintenance of already sold F-16s so that the aircraft remains in flight condition. According to the US, Pakistan had requested America for this. As per the deal, hardware and software modifications will be done to the engine of the aircraft.
Engines will be repaired and new parts will be installed as needed. Support equipment will be provided for the aircraft. According to the statement, the deal will be an estimated $450 million and the deal will be completed by a company named Lockheed Martin. This is considered a very important defense decision of America for Pakistan in the last four years.
In the year 2018, Donald Trump, who was the President before Biden, canceled the $3 billion defense aid given to Pakistan. He said that Pakistan had failed to rein in groups like the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani Network. Apart from Pakistan, America has given F-16s to countries like Bahrain, Belgium, Egypt, Taiwan, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Thailand.
At the same time, he has made a deal with India for the Apache helicopter. Along with this, it also has a big defense partnership program with India. If we look at the import of arms, India has been buying more weapons from Russia than America. But in recent times, India's buying of arms from America and from other countries has increased.
What could be the impact on India-US relations?
India's place in America's foreign policy is important, both partner on important issues, are together in forums like G-20, Quad, Indo Pacific Economic Framework. But the strained relations between India and Pakistan in the South Asian region are not hidden from anyone.
In such a situation, it is imperative to see India's move diplomatically, because India would not want America to do any kind of defense deal with Pakistan. But can it affect the relations between India and America, foreign affairs expert Manoj Joshi says that whether India wants it or not, it will have to accept this decision of America in any case.
He says, "Pakistan has shown that due to its position, it is strategically important and no one can leave it. In the meantime, relations between America and Pakistan had deteriorated slightly, but this decision of America is an indication of this. It is that the issue has improved and both the countries are ready to build good relations."
He says, "America does not want that it should only take India's side and ignore important countries like Afghanistan, Central Asia, Pakistan associated with Iran. Now Taliban has come to power again in Afghanistan and America has to be removed from here. He has to move out. He wants to set his feet in such a place in Asia, from where he can keep an eye on Afghanistan and also keep an eye on the regional geopolitics here."
When and how was the F-16 made?

In 1972, when the need for light combat aircraft was felt, a company named General Dynamics made the F-16 aircraft. The name of the aircraft was Fighting Falcon ie F-16. These were single-seat, single-engine jets that could fly at twice the speed of sound and were capable of carrying a range of missiles and bombs.
The company later became part of the Lockheed Martin Cooperation. The first consignment of this aircraft arrived in the US Air Force in 1978.
In this matter, defense expert Sushant Sarin says, "America is playing a diplomatic game on this issue. America kept saying that it is a very good friend of India, but it is angry with India's stand regarding the Russo-Ukraine war because India has Relations with Russia have continued."
At the same time, defense affairs expert Rahul Bedi says, "It will be a bit strange for India because Trump canceled the deal with Pakistan in 2018, but this decision of the Biden administration seems to be leaning towards Pakistan. The $450 million deal is an indication that relations with Pakistan that were deteriorating for three-four years are now on the path of improvement.
When and how did Pakistan get the F16 aircraft
Pakistan first bought F-16 aircraft from America in the year 1981. This was the time when the Soviet Union attacked Afghanistan. But then relations between the two countries deteriorated and the purchase of 28 of these planes was stopped, expressing concern over the nuclear program with Pakistan. There was concern that Pakistan might use these planes for nuclear strikes. But for this, Pakistan had already given $ 658 million to the US, which was later returned by the US.
But then in the year 2001 the situation changed. After the 9/11 incident, there was a terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in America. After that Asia, especially Pakistan and Afghanistan became very important for US foreign policy and then Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf promised America's support in the campaign against terrorism.
After this the US lifted the ban on Pakistan and sold 18 modern F-16 aircraft to Pakistan. Also continued to provide support for already sold aircraft. In 2011, a $62 million deal was approved for parts for the C-130, T-37 and T-33 aircraft, including the F-16. Then in 2016, the US signed a deal worth about $ 700 million with Pakistan, under which it was sold eight F-16 Block 52 aircraft.
After this, in 2019, at the request of Pakistan, a deal of $ 120 million was approved for the technical security team for technical assistance in the F-16 project.
How many F-16s does Pakistan have?
According to an important report of the year 2020 by Aaron Stein and Robert Hamilton of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, Pakistan has a total of 85 F-16 aircraft. Of these, 66 are of old block 15 and 19 are modern block 52 models.
According to this report, so far Pakistan has spent more than 3 billion dollars on the maintenance of F-16 aircraft. There is also a question whether Pakistan will continue to improve relations with America in view of the deteriorating relations between America and China?
